Objectives:
• Study the past to determine the basis for core values and beliefs.
• Assess current congregational mission and ministry.
• Identify future mission and ministry to carry out God’s purpose for   Messiah Lutheran Church.
• Identify members’ feelings and attitudes, assessing their role in the  mission and ministry of MLC.
• Facilitate a strategic process empowering MLC leaders to implement a dynamic mission plan.

Messiah's strengths are:

• Stability of and trust in pastoral leadership.
• Outreach ministry in the community.
• Dedicated core of lay leaders.
• Hospitable and friendly community of faith.
• Desire to grow ministry based on mission.
• Visible location and new property acquisition.

Messiah's challenges are:

• Articulate a vision for the future that will energize MLC.
• Focus ministry on growing disciples who are deeply involved in mission.
• Develop attitudes and practices that are consistent with being a large church.
• Provide an engaging ministry for young families and young adults and youth.
• Address the potential for worship participation to grow.
• Adopt a building plan that supports the new vision for ministry.
